Set against the quiet eastern shoulder of the Great Smoky Mountains, Riverstone Campground is where the pavement ends and the real world begins. RV sites nestled among hemlock and rhododendron, a handful of cozy cabins, and the kind of stillness you can't find anywhere else.
Riverstone Campground sits on forty acres of old-growth hardwood and pine, just minutes from the Sugar Valley entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We started this place because we were tired of crowded, commercial campgrounds that felt more like parking lots than places to rest.
Every site is positioned for privacy. Every cabin faces the woods, not the road. The fire rings are where you tell stories. The community bathhouse is clean because we check it every morning. It's not fancy—but it's honest, and that's what people remember.
Whether you roll in with a full-time RV or just need a warm bed under the stars, we've got a spot with your name on it.
Pull-through and back-in sites from 30 to 50 feet, each with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. Wi-Fi is available at the office—but we won't blame you for ignoring it.
Three hand-built cabins tucked into the ridge. Each sleeps four, features a wood-burning stove, full kitchen, and a deck that faces nothing but forest. Bring your coffee. Stay as long as you want.
For the purists. Designated tent pads among the pines, close to the bathhouse and the communal fire pit. No hookups, no pavement—just ground that feels like ground should.
We don't do pools or mini-golf. What we do is make sure the showers are hot, the sites are level, the Wi-Fi works when you need it, and the firewood is dry. Here's what you'll find when you pull in:
30 and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer on every RV site.
Reliable internet near the host stand. Not on every site—by design.
We're here when you need us. Friendly, helpful, and never intrusive.
Open every season. Winter campsites are our secret—no crowds, just silence.
Hot water, fresh towels, and a nightly cleaning routine you can count on.
Gather around after dinner. We provide the ring—you bring the stories.
Townsend calls itself the "Peaceful Side of the Smokies" and it means it. While Gatlinburg and Cherokee buzz with traffic and tourist shops, this valley stays still. That stillness is the point. But when you want adventure, it's all within reach:
15 minutes to the Sugar Valley Entrance. Over 800 miles of trails, from easy river walks to summit pushes up Clingmans Dome.
Kayak, canoe, or just sit by the water. The river runs through town and offers some of the calmest flatwater in the state.
Over 200 black bears call this valley home. We'll point you to the best viewing spots—and the safe distances to keep.
30 minutes north if you want theme parks, outlet shopping, and the occasional night out. We don't push it—you decide.
Call us to check availability for your dates. We don't do online booking—just a real conversation with someone who knows the property.
We're located on East Lamar Alexander Parkway, just west of Townsend. If you're coming from the north, we're about 10 minutes past the national park entrance. From the south, we're a short drive before you hit the main tourist corridor.
